The only exceptions to this are Z and E-[Co(eta4-C4Ph4) (eta5-C5H4CHCHC6H 4NO2-4], and [Co(eta4-C4Ph 4)(eta5-C5H4CHCHC 5H4-eta5)Fe{eta5-C 5H4CHC(CN)2}] where the electronic spectra are respectively consistent with a significant Co(eta4-C 4Ph4)(eta5-C5H4)/ NO2 donor/acceptor interaction and a less significant Co(eta4-C4Ph4)(eta5-C 5H4)/C(CN)2 one. However, OTTLE studies show that in the electronic spectra of [Co(eta4-C4Ph 4)(eta5-C5H4CHCHR]+ there are low energy absorption bands (950-1800 nm) which are attributed to R ? Co(eta4-C4Ph4)(eta5- C5H4)+ or, when R is a ferrocenyl-base group, Co(eta4-C4Ph4)(eta5-C 5H4) ? (eta5-C5H 4)Fe(eta5-C5H4Y)+ charge transfer transitions. Titan, the largest satellite of Saturn, is a key planetary body for astrobiological studies due to its active organic chemistry, hydrocarbon lakes and possible subsurface water-ammonia liquids. We have investigated the physicochemical properties of organic compounds synthesized in a simulated Titan atmosphere. A laboratory analog of Titans aerosols, called tholin, was produced by irradiation of a nitrogen/methane gas mixture. The primary aim was to determine whether tholin represent possible sources of surface-active substances that could have been involved in the formation of prebiotic structures. A tholin sample was extracted with chloroform-methanol and the chloroform soluble material was separated by two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. In the case of polycrystalline gold surfaces, electrochemical characterization was performed by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The latter system was used as bioelectrode for L-lactate quantification, showing a short time response (<10 s) with high sensitivity of 63 ± 3 muA mM?1cm?2, detection limit of 0.47 muM and linear range between 0.001 mM and 0.25 mM. This bioelectrode was also tested for L-lactate analysis in yogurt and fermented milk, and it was checked that typical interfering as glucose and citric, acetic and ascorbic acids do not play a role. Present results indicate that self-assembled multilayers made of PDDA/AuNP/LOx are suitable thin films for electroanalytical determination of L-lactate in real samples.
