The cations [Cr(CO)L(eta-RC?CR)(eta-C6Me6)]+ undergo both one-electron reduction and oxidation, and chemical oxidation of [Cr(CO){P(OCH2)3CEt} (eta-p-MeOC6H4C?CC6H4OMe-p)( eta-C6Me6)]+ with AgPF6 gives the dication [Cr(CO){P(OCH2)3CEt}(eta-p-MeOC6H4 C?CC6H4OMe-p)(eta-C6Me6)] 2+. Thus the two-electron alkyne of [Cr(CO)2-(eta-RC?CR)(eta-C6Me6)] is converted into the four-electron alkyne of [Cr(CO)L(eta-RC?CR)(eta-C6Me6)]2+ by an ECE (E = electrochemical, C = chemical) process in which all of the intermediates have been fully characterised.

We report the results of a systematic electrochemical study of the host-guest supramolecular adducts between ferrocene (Fc), ferrocenium cation (Fc+), and other mono- and disubstituted ferrocene derivatives with different beta-cyclodextrins (CD) in mixed organic-aqueous media. The influence on the formation constants (Kf) of the organic cosolvent, the different substituents on Fc, and the type of CDs are evaluated. NMR and conductometry responses of ferrocenium cation solutions in the presence of CD confirm the weak propensity of Fc+ to enter into the cyclodextrin cavity. The Kf value generally decreases as the steric bulk and the rigidity of Fc substituents increases, consistent with an inclusion model in which the Fc fits into the CD cavity in an axial mode while the substituent protrudes out. Interestingly, the addition of sulfated beta-CD shifts the redox Fc/Fc+ couple toward cathodic values, indicating that the oxidized, cationic form Fc+ is more strongly bound to the sulfated cyclodextrin than neutral Fc, probably by means of electrostatic interaction with the external -SO3- functionalities.

In this article, a new electrochemiluminescent (ECL) biosensor based on a g-C3N4-hemin nanocomposite and hollow gold nanoparticles (HGNPs) was constructed to detect lactate. Firstly, the g-C3N4 nanosheets were prepared through ultrasonication-assisted liquid exfoliation of bulk g-C3N4, which was obtained through polymerizing melamine under 600C. Then, the nanocomposites of g-C3N4 nanosheets and hemin were prepared to modify a glassy carbon electrode. Subsequently, HGNPs were self-assembled onto the electrode for adsorbing lactate oxidase to achieve a lactate biosensor. Due to the excellent catalytic effect of g-C3N4-hemin and HGNPs on the luminol/H2O2 ECL system, the as-prepared biosensor exhibited a good response performance to lactate with a linear range of 1.7 × 10-8 to 5.0 × 10-4 M and a detection limit of 5.5 × 10-9 M. In addition, the prepared ECL biosensor exhibited satisfying reproducibility and stability. The g-C3N4-hemin nanocomposite might have great potential application in a luminol/H2O2 ECL system.

The synthesis of two new donor-acceptor ferrocenyl derivatives with Meldrum’s acid based nonplanar acceptor substituents is presented. A novel flow-through column electrolytic cell was proposed as a detector to obtain current signals for supercritical fluid chromatography. To evaluate the sensitivity of this cell, a standard solution of ferrocene was injected into the supercritical fluid chromatography system connected to the electrolytic cell. The ferrocene was eluted through a silica gel column using a mixture of a mobile phase of supercritical CO2 and a modifier of methanol containing ammonium acetate. The current peak area of ferrocene correlated to the ferrocene concentration in the range of 10?400 mumol/L (r = 0.999). The GOx enzyme was immobilized on the Fc(MGlu)2, [Fc(MGlu)2-Aph-Pt(II)]and [Fc(MGlu)2-Aph-Pt(IV)]dendrimers, and the immobilized enzyme optimization parameters (substrate concentration, temperature, pH, reusability and storage capacity)were determined. Their Km (mM)and Vmax (mM.min?1)values were calculated from the Michaelis?Menten equation. The reusability of the immobilized glucose oxidase enzyme was investigated in an artificial urine medium. The research showed that [Fc(MGlu)2-Aph-Pt(II)]retains more than 61.23% of its initial activity after 10 successive cycles, which is a remarkable result.
